The 2009-2010 Regular Waterfowl season openned on Saturday November 14, 2009. Below is a brief recap of our duck hunts during the 2009-2010 season.
Saturday November 14, 2009: Today marked the opening day of the 2009-2010 season. It was only 52 degrees as we entered the impoundments this morning. As was the case last season, we only hunted one of the six impoundments today because several are not quite full with water. We had our largest crowd ever for opening day; there were a total of 46 members and children who hunted this morning. The shooting was great all morning, and we ended the hunt at 8:30 am. We harvested a total of 159 birds this morning; mostly mallards, with a few wood ducks.
Saturday November 21, 2009: The duck hunt today was an afternoon hunt. We entered the impoundment at around 3:00 pm. The shooting was fast for the first hour, after that many of our ducks went to the river. They began to trickle back in closer to sunset and gave a good end to the hunt. There were a total of 40 members and children today and we harvested 129 ducks.
Saturday November 25, 2009: Today was our first midweek hunt, the day before Thanksgiving. The weather was a bit colder today; only 35 degrees when we entered the impoundments There were a total of 30 members and children today and we harvested 118 ducks.
Saturday November 28, 2009: We had a smaller crowd today with only 25 hunters. We hunted two different impoudments today. The Big Impoundment is still full of mallards, along with a few wood ducks. The people who hunted the Greentree Impoundment were overloaded with wood ducks. There were a total of 25 members and children today and we harvested 82 ducks.
Saturday December 5, 2009: Today is the last hunt before the two week break in the season. Due to the colder weather, we have seen more of a mixed bag of ducks on the pond. Several people today killed widgeon, along with a few ringnecks. There were a total of 42 members and children today and we harvested 132 ducks.
Saturday December 19, 2009: Today was the first hunt after the two week break in the season. We hunted three different impoundments this morning. The Big Impoundment harvested mainly mallards, while the other small impoundments harvested wood ducks and a few widgeon. There were a total of 32 members and children today and we harvested 142 ducks.
Saturday December 26, 2009: We hunted in the afternoon today and had a large crowd since it is the day after Christmas. We only hunted the Big Impoundment and had a very successful hunt. There were a total of 41 members and children today and we harvested 146 ducks.
Saturday January 2, 2010: Happy New Year! Today was our first duck hunt of the new year. We have had some colder and wintery weather conditions, causing several people not to make it down for the hunt this morning. There were a total of 26 members and children today and we harvested 116 ducks.
Saturday January 9, 2010: Today is our 8th Annual Shucks N' Ducks Event. At lunch today we served up approximately 1,000 oysters, along with other items. Due to some extremely cold weather, all of the impoundments have been frozen for a week. They did manage to thaw out yesterday afternoon and we had a great hunt as a result. There were a total of 59 members and children today and we harvested 222 ducks. What a great hunt!
Saturday January 16, 2010: The weather was fairly mild today and it was only 36 degrees as we entered the impoundments; the high today was 58, so it warmed up fast! The hunt today was a bit slow, most likely due to the high volume of shooting last weekend. There were a total of 33 members and children today and we harvested 84 ducks.
Total Ducks Harvested: 1,330
