Waterfowl

Buchanan Shoals is located on the Great Pee Dee River, the central flyway of the Carolinas.  There are seven different waterfowl impoundments totaling over 150 acres, as well as 11 islands on the river, all of which provide a unique atmosphere that any dedicated waterfowler will appreciate.  The open water impoundments are planted annually with corn, grain sorghum, and Japanese millet, providing excellent habitat for waterfowl.  In addition to our wild waterfowl population, Buchanan Shoals also raises over 2,000 mallards annually.
